Why Bamboo

•  Bamboo is renewable
The renewability of bamboo is the most import reason we choose bamboo products. Bamboo trees can have many bamboo shoots every year, so the quantity of bamboo trees is multiplied year by year. We only need to plant bamboo trees once, and then use them forever. This allows us to make the best use of bamboo material without damaging the ecological environment and to keep the sustainable development.
Quite the contrary, wood resources are not renewable. Grown once to maturity and felled only once. Some rare wood species have been forested to extinction or almost to extinction after years of felling. Thick forests turned to bare land and desolate hills. So it is very important for us to use bamboo instead of wood for our future.

•  Bamboo grows rapidly in a very short growing season
Bamboo trees for bamboo flooring only need 5 to 6 years to grow. A bamboo shoot can grow up to a 20 meters. Bamboo trees mature within 2 months and can grow by 1 meter a day in its’ peak growing period. Trees for conventional wood flooring need to grow for ten or twenty years, or in some species, a hundred years to reach maturity.

•  Bamboo is widely distributed; an abundant resource
The earth has more than 1200 species of bamboo, which are mainly grown in the tropics and subtropics, a very small percentage grows in the temperate and frigid zones of the world. China is the origin of the world’s bamboo and the bamboo center of the earth. Our country has the honor of being bamboo’s “home”. The most abundant bamboo resources are in China. China has the name of “the kingdom of bamboo” with the most bamboo species, the most bamboo growing area, and the most bamboo material output.

•  Bamboo is a straight fiber plant
Compared to wood flooring; bamboo flooring with straight bamboo fibers is harder for humidity to penetrate to cause deformation, so the performance of  bamboo flooring is more stable and reliable.

•  Bamboo- the right choice!
Because of the renewability of bamboo, its short growing season, wide distribution, and abundant resources, bamboo products are relatively cheaper than other wood products. This makes bamboo products more cost effective while achieving the same high quality at a far less costly impact on our planet!

China is the world’s bamboo country, and Anji is the bamboo town of China. Anji Hefeng Bamboo & Wood Industry Co., Ltd. is located in the beautiful bamboo town – Anji, China. Hefeng Bamboo’s bamboo flooring, bamboo veneer and bamboo panel products are produced and developed  based on the abundant bamboo resources in Anji, and other neighboring  provinces, such as AnHui, FuJian, and JiangXi.
The factory is in the Tangpu industry zone, which is only 200 kilometers away from Shanghai’s port; a short 3 hours away. This makes our transportation costs lower so we can give our customers a better competitive price.

• The History of Hefeng Bamboo
Hefeng Bamboo is a major manufacturer and exporter with more than 10 years history. The first pieces of bamboo flooring were made at Hefeng. We have focused on the high quality market from the very beginning. Hefeng possesses a very good reputation because of these years of development and innovation, stable quality and superior service. We have doubled our output several times. We started our raw material factories in other bamboo area such as Hangzhou. We started our sales company in Australia in 2008 and we moved to our new factory in Tangpu in 2009.

If any factory says that they can produce colored bamboo flooring be aware that colored bamboo flooring from that factory is an illegal copied product! We reserve the right to sue that factory and their distributors.

• Hefeng’s Production Processes
We pay close attention to every production detail for bamboo flooring, bamboo veneer, and bamboo panel; from the bamboo trees’ harvest to final packaging for shipping. We insist on using bamboo trees that are 5-6 years old and handle all materials properly and timely. We use highly accurate machines and make sure all our  employee’s training is up to date

• Hefeng’s Management System
The company has two management systems, one is ISO9001:2000 quality control system; the other is 5S worksite management system. The two systems run parallel, from macro to micro, complementing each other.

About the Adhesive

Many customers are concerned about the adhesive when they are buying bamboo flooring. Bamboo flooring uses glue for the lamination process in its production. Glue contains formaldehyde, so bamboo flooring with formaldehyde glue is noxious. We understand this concern, but we don’t think it’s necessary.

We must use glue to produce bamboo flooring, but not all glue contains formaldehyde. Some glue contains formaldehyde, such as UF glue. Other glues, such as EPI glue, contain no formaldehyde. Of course EPI glue is better because it contains no formaldehyde, but it costs more and the adhesive ability is poorer than UF glue. The international market has an international standard for UF glue produced bamboo products: 1.5mg/L or less formaldehyde emission for E1 standard, and 0.5mg/L or less formaldehyde emission for E0 standard. The formaldehyde emission in the above mentioned standard is not harmful to people’s health. The formaldehyde emission for our bamboo flooring, bamboo veneer and bamboo panel is in the range of 0.2-0.4mg/L, so we think our bamboo products are your best choice.

Maybe you didn’t know that some wood flooring contains formaldehyde in the wood itself. Even though the wood flooring contains no glue there is formaldehyde present naturally.

About FSC

“FSC” is the abbreviation of “Forest Stewardship Council”. The FSC was founded in Canada in 1993. It is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. It has already played a great role in our planets forest protection. We must thank FSC very much and show it our respect for its contributions and effort to save the earth’s environment.

However; for bamboo products, we don’t think it’s necessary to be listed on the FCS protection list. Bamboo is renewable, a bamboo tree can have many bamboo shoots every year. A mountain with a few bamboo trees can develop into a very dense bamboo forest years later even without human management. Bamboo trees are not like wood trees, which can only be harvested once.

Some customers from Europe and America ask for FSC certification when they buy bamboo products from us. We cooperate with the customers because we respect our customers’ views on environmental protection, but actually, bamboo products don’t need to be FSC certified.
